According to the Small Arms Survey of 2007 U.S. citizens own 270 million of the world’s 875 million known firearms. That’s 90 guns for every 100 citizens which makes it the most heavily armed society in the world. Each year 8 million new guns are manufactured 4.5 million of them are purchased in the United States.
Shooting guns is as fine a sport as archery, baseball, golf or badminten and a gun is just a tool or a sporting good when placed in the hand of a respectable honest caring moral sane human being, but until we have an increase in crime committed by arrow, bat, club or shuttlecock, let’s have stricter gun laws and mandatory gun education for all current and future gun owners. And just a whole lot more education. And fewer wars. Amen.
